We missed you! Let’s talk about the great #FacebookBlackout

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, the last 24 hours has been pretty hectic with the shutdown on Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp. So what now? I think there’s an important lesson of maintaining your brand beyond social media.

Turn Crisis Into An Opportunity

Several brands used this critical moment in social media history to promote their brands in a fun, snarky way.

Make Light of the Situation

While Facebook and Instagram was down, Twitter was building up with funny memes from users and brands.

Tap Into Your Other Resources

Most brands have their own websites and email marketing and if they don’t, let the Facebook shutdown be an example of why you probably should. The key is that you must have multiple channels to communicate to your consumers. Doesn’t hurt to add a catchy or snarky Email Subject on any already existing promotion for your business.

Brandinc PR works on brand development including logo design, flyers and website design for emerging businesses.
